Kristian Woodmansee started his Jiu Jitsu career locally in Philadelpia about 9 years ago. Since then, he has trained under world-class instrcutors and competitors such as Jared Weiner, Pablo Popovitch, Roberto "Cyborg" Abreu, Robert Drysdale, and Andre Galvao, whom he received his black belt from. With Kristian always training in a competitive academy, he constantly pursued standing on the podium at the most prestigious events in the world. He is considered to be on of the top competitors in the world in his weight class.
Kristian will tell you that his entire life revolves around Jiu Jitsu. When he's not teaching and training, he is traveling the world teaching seminars and competing. His vision and experience makes him a world class instructor with incredible detail.

Morgan Beverly was introduced to a healthy and active lifestyle at a young age, due to her parent’s strong influence on her. As a child, Morgan was active in local recreational and high school sports teams. At the age of 17, Morgan was introduced to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and immediately fell in love with the sport. She has been actively competing in tournaments all over the country since her first year in the sport. Jiu Jitsu challenged her in ways no other sport could, not only physically, but mentally also.
At age 20, Morgan decided to broaden her knowledge/skills in the fitness industry by becoming a NASM CPT and competing in NPC Bikini Shows. She developed a Youtube channel as a way to reach a larger audience and inspire others through her fitness/jiu jitsu journey. She has been working with people over the past couple of years, in hopes of influencing others to live healthier/more active lifestyles.

Kyle Huang moved from Fuzhou, China to the United States at the young age of 10. Due to his inability to communicate with other children his age, Kyle turned to martial arts as an outlet. He began doing Karate a couple of months after moving to Philadelphia and fell in love with the technique and discipline required in the sport. Although he enjoyed training karate, he wanted to expand his knowledge in the world of martial arts. Once he turned 11, Kyle began studying Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Kyle is now a brown belt and has been training Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for over a decade. Kyle aspires to compete on an international level and become a world champion in the years to come. He now shares his passion for Jiu Jitsu with children and adults, as a Brazilian jiu Jitsu instructor at Roots Athletics.

Alex Guo’s appreciation for athletic discipline has been with him from the time his parents enrolled him at the Fencing Academy of South Jersey. From age 10, Alex studied sport fencing under Olympic Coach Andy Ma, to multiple State and National titles. Having come from a team environment, he has learned to both welcome criticism and to go the extra mile for his comrades. Today, Alex’s fervor for training and fascination with the martial arts are evermore apparent on the Roots Academy mats. Watch him closely in warmup, and you’ll see he strives for perfection in each movement.
Jiu Jitsu was love at first sight for Alex Guo. While he is only a year-and-a-half into his grappling journey, Alex has made it a priority to fill his life with jiu jitsu as much as possible. Raised from the ground up by the Roots Academy, Alex takes pride in his newfound BJJ family. Keep an eye on him in the years to come.
